DESCRIPCION DE LA EXCURSION

We will leave Puerto Natales at 07:00 am, after picking you up at your accommodation and within about 2 hours we will get to the Torres del Paine National Park through the entrance of Laguna Amarga.

We will start the hike and the first 90 minutes we will follow a winding trail that goes up the Asencio Valley. Our efforts will be rewarded with a pristine view of the Lake Nordenjold. Then we will walk  at the foot of a snow-covered mountain, Mount Almirante Nieto, reaching a height of 2670 m above sea level. The guide will make sure to take as many breaks as necessary during the excursion. The trail will go up and down up to 61 meters because it winds around the mountain together with a rushing river below. After a couple of hours of trekking we will enjoy a fully deserved rest in the mountain shelter el Chileno.

After an hour of trekking through beech forests, we will get to a mass of rocks piled one on another that emerges next to a moraine. Arduous ascent on a meandering gravel path lasts approximately 45 minutes. Suddenly a wonderful sight appears, a turquoise glacial lake surrounded by 3 pointed towers. We will walk to the Base Torres viewpoint to take some pictures of the towers and the Nido de Cóndor hill. The north tower has 2600 masl, the central tower reaches 2800 masl and the south tower has 2850 masl. The tour lasts in total about 13 hours – 9 hours are walks and breaks.

This excursion is of medium high difficulty and it is essential to be prepared for walking long distances and to have a good physical condition. Trekking shoes and comfortable clothing is suggested, sunglasses and sunscreen are also necessary.
